Paco Bunnik, Chief Urban Designer of Amsterdam, and Finn Williams, Chief Architect of Malmö, will share how former industrial harbours can be transformed into vibrant, sustainable waterfronts for the public. They will showcase urban design principles and partnership models that balance social, economic, and environmental benefits. CITYMAKERS | Harbour Transformations: Lessons from Amsterdam and Malmö

Finn Williams has been the City Architect of Malmö since 2021. He previously worked to promote public architecture and planning in the UK through roles at Croydon Council and the Greater London Authority, and as the co-founder and chief executive of Public Practice. He is an international jury member for the NLA Awards, an independent expert for the EU Mies van der Rohe Awards and was a jury member for the 2024 Alvar Aalto Medal. Finn is a visiting professor of practice at the Institute of Innovation and Public Purpose at University College London and was co-curator of the British Pavilion at the 2016 Venice Architecture Biennale.

Paco Bunnik is Chief Urban Designer for the Amsterdam department of Urban Planning and Sustainability. He is supervising large urban development and urban regeneration projects like the Waterfront and the Zuidas Central Business District. The department searches for new approaches and stimulates innovative processes to integrate solutions in the field of urbanization, architecture, mobility, and water management in multidisciplinary teams. Besides urban design and architecture, he takes strong interest in urban lighting and light & art projects as an active member in LUCI, the international network of cities on urban lighting.
